Personal Retrospective
From scattered thoughts to visible next steps.
When life feels like a whirlwind
Picture this: you are stuck in a whirlwind of confusion, feeling like a headless chicken, with no clear idea where to go or what to do next.
Recently, I hit that kind of roadblock and knew I had to figure things out. So I grabbed a bunch of sticky notes, disappeared into a room, and started a personal retrospective adventure.
A personal retrospective with sticky notes
Every single thought that was running around in my head got written down and placed onto a colorful piece of paper.
Suddenly, the chaos was not only inside my mind anymore. It was in front of me. Visible. Movable. Sortable.
Sometimes clarity starts by getting every thought out of your head and placing it somewhere you can actually see it.
From rainbow explosion to categories
Each sticky note eventually found its squad. Similar thoughts started grouping together. Random ideas became patterns.
What started as a rainbow explosion became a visible map of what was going on inside my head.
Priority time
Once the thoughts were visible and grouped, it was time to prioritize.
I did not need to solve everything at once. I only needed to understand what mattered first.
The accidental Agile expedition
I had inspected the chaos. I had made the work visible. I had grouped patterns. I had prioritized. I had identified next steps. I had created a tiny roadmap and celebrated a small win.
Agile principles had quietly sneaked into my life’s decision-making process.
Closing reflection
My sticky-note adventure reminded me that agility is not only about work. It is also about reflection, adaptation, prioritizing, asking for support, and taking one useful next step.
And yes, a special thanks goes to the people who stuck by me and came running to my rescue during that moment of insanity. You know who you are.
